Stop paying late fees on bills you already meant to pay
Put every due date on one list so a bill cannot slip past you.
Step 1
Write down every bill that has a due date
Rent or mortgage, power, gas, NBN, mobile, insurance, rego, school fees, council. One line each: name, amount, due day.
Step 2
Move the reminder earlier than the due day
Two days before is late if payday is the week before. Remind yourself on the payday you will use to pay it.
Step 3
Turn on direct debit only for the bills that never change
Rent and insurance suit a debit. Bills that jump, like power, are safer paid on purpose so you notice the rise.
Step 4
Check the list every payday
Five minutes. Pay what is due before the next pay, then leave the rest. Bill Calendar keeps that list instead of a note that gets lost.
