Shop the unit price, not the big yellow sticker
Compare the price per 100g or per item, and only bulk-buy what you will use.
Step 1
Read the unit price on the shelf label
In Australia the label shows a price per 100g, per 100ml, or per item. That number is the comparison. The big pack is not automatically cheaper.
Step 2
Compare the same unit
Per kilo against per kilo. A "family pack" against a loose item only works after you convert both.
Step 3
Bulk-buy only what you finish
A cheaper price per roll is a loss if the pack goes stale, or if it was an impulse because it looked like a bargain.
Step 4
Keep two prices for the things you buy every week
Milk, bread, detergent, coffee. You only need the usual price so a "special" is a real special.
The tool that keeps this going
Why ROOPON
Unit Price does the per-100g sum. Bulk Buy asks whether the bigger pack is a saving or food you will throw out.
The lowest cost plan that includes every tool on this page is Ultimate at $99.99/month. Memberships also include partner discount codes. You can pay monthly or yearly, and you can cancel anytime.
