Sketch a nest egg from a regular amount
See what a monthly amount could grow to. The growth rate is an assumption you type, not a forecast.
Step 1
Decide the amount you can add every month
Use the figure left after bills and the savings goal you already have. Do not use a number that only works in a good month.
Step 2
Run two growth rates
A cautious one and a higher one. If the plan only works on the higher one, it is not a plan yet.
Step 3
Write the year you want the money
Retirement age, or a shorter goal. The same monthly amount does very different work over 5 years and over 25.
Step 4
Keep this separate from the bill money
Money you might need for rego does not belong in a long-term illustration. The payday split comes first.
