Find a receipt when a warranty actually matters

The warranty is useless if you cannot show what you paid and when.

  1. Step 1

Photograph the receipt the day you buy

Thermal receipts fade. A photo on the day is the record. Include the serial number on the box for appliances.

  2. Step 2

Name the file with the item and the date

"Washer 2026-03" beats "IMG_2044". You will search by the item, not by the day you took the photo.

  3. Step 3

Write the warranty length on the same note

One year, two years, or the extended warranty you were sold at the counter. The end date is what you need later.

  4. Step 4

Keep proof of payment with the receipt

A bank line plus the receipt is stronger than either one. Store them together.
